We are pleased to confirm that we are one step closer to fixed IP data SIMs on AAISP.
We have been working closely with the mobile network to set up the necessary routing, and we completed testing proving the concept end to end. We were very please when the engineer in the mobile network proudly told us "I can see facefook"... This has required a lot of work getting several teams together to make the solution.
The live system is likely to be a couple of weeks off. We know we will be able to route a single fixed IPv4 address with no problem, and expect to test blocks of addresses and IPv6 once we have this working.
The service only works with the specific data SIM cards, not the voice(&data) SIM cards. This is for all sorts of contract/polictical reasons I won't go in to. Maybe one day we can do it on both. The voice SIMs can however get simple IPv4 internet access on a dynamic IP now anyway.
We'll be announcing as soon as we have this service live.
P.S. these work in "3" branded and SIM locked dongles and mifi's...
